Bangor Business Awards The annual Bangor Business Awards was launched recently and the hunt for the best local businesses is well and truly underway. Now in its 7th year the awards are the premier business event in the North Down calendar and attract over 400 people to the Gala Evening which this year is taking place on Wednesday 2nd May at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel. The evening will be compared by local businessman and raconteur Colin Barkley. Following the awards ceremony party goers will be able to dance the night away to the music of the Housemates.
Returning for the second year as principal sponsor is the Northern Bank. This year they will be sponsoring the competitive Commitment to Bangor Award which is one of the most sought after award as it is focused on recognising the individual who has dedicated themselves to the growth and success of Bangor’s business community. Local businesses will this year be competing for one of the highly acclaimed awards in 16 categories which will be judged by Spotcheck. Spotcheck is a subsidiary body of the Wholesale and Retail Training Council. This gives professionalism and independence to the judging of the awards and ensures that only those businesses promoting best practice win.
This year has seen a new award created, the Positive Environmental Impact Award which is designed to recognise exceptional improvement in business performance achieved through good environmental management. Sponsored by 3M Tapes, the award will be looking for evidence for specific environmental policies introduced in the last two years, together with an appreciation of the benefits they have brought.
Returning for the second year is the award for Bangor’s Key Person. The award, which is being sponsored by Axa Direct, aims to recognise an individual who has made a significant contribution to his/her company through high levels of professionalism and consistently meeting high standards of business excellence.
Aiming to reward those businesses who have expanded their business base further than the UK market, the First Trust is sponsoring the award for Export Growth in Manufacturing.
A full list of sponsors can be seen below and the deadline for businesses wishing to express and interest into entering an award is the 9th March. All completed submissions must be returned by 30th March to Spotcheck at 10 Hydepark Road, Mallusk, BT36 4PY. This year to make the process easier for entrants, applications forms can be sent and returned by email.
