2008 Bangor Business Awards launched
The run in for the 2008 Bangor Business Awards is well and truly underway as more than 1200 brochures have been sent out to local businesses and expressions of interest forms have come flooding in.
The awards, now in their 8th year, were launched at Clandeboye Lodge in early February, aim to highlight the cream of Bangor Businesses and reward those who promote Best Practice. The awards process is rounded off with the Gala Evening, North Down’s premier social event, which this year takes place on Thursday 22nd May at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel. Hosting the awards this year is funny-man and star of “Our Jimmy”, William Caulfield and revellers will be able to dance the night away to the music of the Housem8’s following their four course meal and the awards presentation.
This year the Awards working group, which is made up of local business people felt it was time to re-jig a number of the awards in order to give the awards a fresh look. With that we have seen new awards created such as, Training in the Workplace Award, Employee of the Year Award and the Excellence in Customer Service - Tourism & Hospitality Sector. Old favourites such as the Best New Business, Best Small Business and Best Website will be returning.
The awards will once again be judged by Spotcheck, a subsidiary body of the Wholesale and Retail Training Council. Using Spotcheck gives professionalism and independence to the judging of the awards and ensures that only those businesses promoting best practice wins.
Businesses wishing to enter the awards need to have returned their expression of interest to Spotcheck by Friday 7th March and the deadline for the return of all written submissions is Friday 28th March 2008.
