ENTER THE 2009 BANGOR BUSINESS AWARDS– it’s now, easier than ever!
Joined by individuals from local and regional sponsoring businesses, the Awards organisers, Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Bangor Town Centre Management are delighted to welcome Spectator Newspapers onboard as Principal Sponsor for 2009.
Commenting on their decision to sponsor the awards, Stuart Kennedy from Spectator Newspapers said, "As your local Newspaper we felt this year of all years was particularly important to support our business community. With all the economic doom and gloom we hope these awards highlight that Bangor businesses are not prepared to “’throw in the towel’”.
The awards offer local businesses the opportunity to put themselves forward for recognition for the hard work and dedication that are invested in their business. In such challenging times the awards are even more necessary to encourage confidence and to promote excellence in business practice. Stealing a competitive edge is critical for success.
All judging is completed through an independent process that will be undertaken by expert judging panels and mystery shopping visits. The 15 categories are judged by a mixture of the two and (for the first time), interview panels. This has done away with most of the written applications, making it all much easier for everyone to enter.
Evan Ward, President of the Bangor Chamber of Commerce, commented: ”Once again I am very pleased with the level of support we have received from sponsors. A number have been with us from the awards inception and we warmly welcome their ongoing commitment. New sponsors have come on board with a hearty enthusiasm and their presence is to be applauded.”
With some fresh awards and many old favourites we are particularly keen to see the small business sector stepping forward and being recognised for their incredible contribution to the North Down economy. Judging will ensure that size is not a disadvantage.”
The Gala event will take place on Thursday 21st May in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel when Bangor Chamber of Commerce, Town Centre Management and Spectator Newspapers will be joined by the other award sponsors; Ulster Bank, Nationwide, South Eastern Regional College, Denman, North Down Development Organisation, Sainsbury’s, Barnams, Drumbo Park, J Hatty & Co, Wilson Nesbitt, North Down Community Safety Partnership, Invest NI and Signal.
Leading NI comedian, Sean Crummey will host the evening and will also entertain us with insights of Northern Ireland’s political life from his BBC series “Folks on the Hill”. It will be a fun packed night and celebration of business excellence in Bangor.
Brochures will be distributed to all Bangor Businesses within the coming week and further information is available by contacting the awards helpline on 9181 9701 or email BBA09@xl-ents.co.uk
