From Bangor to Bregenz
A small delegation of Bangor businesses, including Evan Ward, President of Bangor Chamber of Commerce will this October attend the Bregenz Gourmet Food Festival in Austria. Widely recognised as one of the biggest food festivals in Europe, it attracts on average 5,000 visitors a day and takes place in the impressive Bregenz Conference Centre situated on the edge of Lake Constance, Avshia.
Following the links between the two towns, Bregenz Council and Chamber of Commerce have extended an invitation to their Northern Ireland Counterparts and asked them to be the primary focus of this year’s festival.
The aim of the trip will be to raise the profile of Bangor, Northern Ireland in Europe in the anticipation of attracting a number of visitors to the area.
Bangor Chamber of Commerce will be present at the event and will be distributing information packs on Bangor & North Down, including information on places to stay, attractions and key facts and figures about the Borough.
A selection of local produce will be on display for visitors to sample and buy. Chefs from Ratz will be there using their culinary skills to whisk people into a frenzy by preparing traditional and innovative Northern Irish food.
Also present will be local craftsmen Philip Steel, Geordie McAdam and Wilson Davies who combine together to play a mix of Irish, Ulster Scots, Bluegrass and Appalachian music.
President of the Chamber Evan Ward said “This is a unique opportunity for a town such as Bangor to promote itself internationally. We are extremely grateful to be invited to be the focal point of such a recognised event and we will be going out there with the aim of raising awareness of not just Bangor but Northern Ireland!”
Anyone wishing to have information distributed in Bregenz should contact Bangor Chamber of Commerce on 028 9146 0035. |
