Discounts Available for 'Proof of Age' Cardholders
Following the initial success of the free ‘Proof of Age Card’, in an attempt to widen its appeal to the target market, Town Centre Management has joined together with 15 of the towns local independent retailers and involved them in a scheme giving cardholders a minimum of 10% discount on their purchases in their store.
This project still in its infancy is the start of what we hope will be of benefit to local businesses and to the community whilst maintaining the cards primary function of identifying those people over the age of 18 years old.
The card is now the favoured form of identification in North Down by doormen, pubs, clubs and off-licenses and it removes the need for young people to carry their passport or driving license when they go out for the night but with this new project the card is now MORE THAN JUST A FORM OF ID.
With the ever-rising number of young people attending North Down & Ards Institute now being able to receive discount in the large dominant multiples, which reside mainly in Belfast City Centre. This improved scheme aims to attract these shoppers back into the town centre into our stores, giving them the discount available in multiples but now readily available in some of Bangor’s Independent traders with the objective of boosting the towns economy and footfall.
Applications for the card have risen by 50% since the introduction of the scheme with booths regularly placed at NDAI and other places frequented by young people.
To date 15 businesses, covering the main shopping core of the Town, have agreed to participate, ranging from Beauty Salons, Sandwich Bars, Clothing retailers and Jewellers. The goal however is not to stop there and following the cards initial success since advertising began, we hope to attract mores businesses to participate in the scheme in the near future, so watch this space!!!!!!!!!!
