The town centre is the heart of any urban society. For some years a number of Northern Ireland's town centres have changed and not necessarily for the better. The primary aim of Town Centre Management is to create active partnerships and broad networks to develop a healthy and sustainable town centre environment that involves and benefits all its stakeholders. This includes the public, private and voluntary sectors, as well as rate payers and visitors who use the town centre. It works to create an environment where social inclusion is the norm. • Define an effective business plan, with a yearly programme of achievable action, including medium- and long-term projects that are endorsed and funded by all partners. • Create a shared vision of a town's identity, function, market niche and brand that meets the needs of the people it serves, now and into the future. • Develop the life of town centres for all investors and users. • Seek out and retain a competitive edge for town centres. • Use and improve public space to make it accessible and enjoyable to all. • Develop projects that focus on environmental improvement, access, car parking, signing, security, inward investment, marketing, customer care and attractions. • Justify public support by listening and communicating decisions openly and objectively and promote confidence by publicising partner’s achievements. MISSION STATEMENT "
To develop Bangor and Holywood as vibrant town for the Twenty-first Century, improving the retail, environmental, cultural and leisure facilities for residents and visitors alike." |
